6 months post op, no weight loss in 5 weeks!

Recommended Posts

Has anyone else experienced this? This is my second time plateauing for quite some time! I have an appointment on Friday for my 6 month follow up, but embarrassed I didn't meet the goal set for me...

I hit the infamous week 3 stall which lasted 3 weeks! I am losing again but slowly! I was a band revision to sleeve and that apparently makes weightloss even slower. I am concentrating on Protein and Water and letting it happen. Excercise needs to happen for me...rain has left me feeling unmotivated. Keep on the course!!

I regularly experience plateaus any where from a couple of weeks to a month long. I start taking body measurements once a month which shows that even when I seem to stall I have lost body fat in inches. Here is a copy of my past 180 days weight loss Which shows the frequency and length of some of plateau. Once I recognized it as a pattern - I stopped worrying about it. Just stay on the program and trust the process.

I should also add that yes, the scale didn't tell a story I wanted to hear but my clothes continued to feel looser. :) NSV is your friend!! :)

My clothes definitely feel looser and I can tell slightly my body comp has changed, just frustrated. I haven't been drinking Protein, rather trying to eat it and I'm wondering if that's my problem. I too need to exercise, just beating myself up

I get plenty of Protein. I drink a Protein shake every morning made up of unflavored Isopure 2 scoops (52 grams) and pure Protein (35 grams). Then I eat regularly doing the day.

Per the program I went through, the body can only absorb 30g of Protein in one sitting. Maybe drink half of the shake for Breakfast then again at mid morning?

I'm a band to sleever, I'm 4 months post op and only lost 20 pounds. And now I'm at this stand still and don't know what to do. I have a personal trainer and work out 3-4 days a weeks. It's very frustrating to only be down 20 pounds in 4 months and my doctor expects me to lose 40-50 pounds in 6 months. I got some ways to go before I lose another 20-30 pounds

Bel6692 that happened to me as well and I believe I posted back when it happened. It was for about 2-3 weeks and then my scale dropped 4-5lb overnight. I'm just getting scared because this seems too long to go-- 5-6 weeks?? I guess I'm questioning what I'm doing wrong

because I am revising from band to gastric bypass my doctor challenged me to find the secret calories in my diet. I took this challenge and started logging everything I put in my mouth and I found secret calories in a lot of food and portions. I lost 10 lbs during this last month. eating the same healthy food but weighing and logging.

When I think about it, I actually "cheat" in some way every day. Sometimes, it's small....like a bite of my son's cookie. Sometimes it's more though. I wake up every day and give myself a "clean slate" and try again. In the end, it's up to ME! My mantra is "protein, Water and move the body" We just need to remind each other and ourselves that this journey is doable and our goals are achievable!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
