On my soft food diet I could have instant ones thinned out. Try that if you are allowed.

I made some really yucky ones. I thought I could just puree a can of potatoes. They were like paste and totally gross. They are allowed on my plan, but if I try them again, I'm going with the instant kind suggested by @ShrinkingPeach

@@no onions canned potatoes .... sounds awful not to mention pureeing them.

Maybe we should talk to a cook at an Old Folks Home and some Seniors about the best tasting puree'd food. lol B)

Canned potatoes? Didn't even know they existed! ???? I have only ever made mashed spuds with fresh potatoes, milk and butter.

My post-op plan mentions instant potatoes as well. I was wondering what was wrong with real ones??

Instant mashed potatoes thinned out was something my nutritionist recommended at a week out. She said thin them out so the didn't stock in your throat.

I really can't imagine a situation where mashed potatoes would EVER be a good idea. They're pure carbohydrates. Can you have fat free refried Beans? I really like the refried black beans...they were the best during that part of the diet.

I'm a very picky eater and Mashed Potatoes is a definite for me! I usually don't finish them cause I get full on the 2-3 oz of either chicken or turkey that I have.

I don't think I'm doing too bad since I'm down 97lbs since my surgery on Jan. 21, 2015. :-) (that's from my preop weight, fyi - from surgery day it's 80lbs).

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
