I did something that was not very smart. I ate bread on a sandwich. What happened to me was the worst experience ever. It went down just fine but after it tried to digest I was having horrible abdominal pain and lots of gas and bloating. I ended up in the ER just for pain relief because it lasted so long and to me felt as bad as labor. I wonder if anyone else has had a similar reaction to eatin bread. I knew some people didnt do well with it but I never imagined this kind of reaction.

I'm getting banded August 1st so I don't know but I have read that bread can be hard to digest because of it's texture like dough balls and can get stuck. When were you banded?

I can eat it too - well I could 3 days ago, havent tried since my fill on Monday. But if it does that to you - stay clear. Ouch.

Yes, soft bread is very, very evil. It turns into a white brick in there and clogs the pouch. It makes your slime go haywire with overdrive production trying to get it to pass. If it does, by some act of God, pass through it may give you horrendous gas and digestive symptoms.

Just stay away. Let bread never touch your lips or GASP pass them.

I had a PB&J sandwhich for lunch yesterday with no problem-just had to eat it slower than ever. To me, that's a sure sign I need a fill!!

I wish I got golfballs from hell when I ate bread!!

I am 11 months out, I haven't included bread in my diet. And thankfully, I don't even miss it.

I did have a 1/4 pb&j on 100% whole wheat, the other day. I didn't eat the crust and it went down fine, and stayed down. But I never even try the white kind.

Before banding, I low carbed, so I am OK with no bread. And I have to say that I am a former addict.

I have eaten the tops off pizza and discarded the crust. I have eaten the center of a sandwiches. Truly, it isn't something I miss.

Most people I've spoken with have had and continue to have problems with digesting bread. I am unable to eat a whole sandwich. I can eat, at the very most, one slice of whole grain bread...and I don't do that often. When I'm in the mood for it I substitute it for 3-4 pieces melba toast. When I do attempt to eat bread I make sure I am at home so that I can deal with any illnesses that arise from the attempt.

Toasted and crust removed is the way to go. Soft bread will stick and cause discomfort.

I really like a whole wheat pita, that is something that seems to go in smooth. Chew is well.

My surgeon told me about a lady that would throw up every time she ate bread--she wouldn't stop eating it though, and eventually her band slipped(well, duh!). When he scheduled her for surgery, he asked her if she wanted him to put it back where it belonged, or just take it out, and she told him to just take it out!:eek:Can you imagine going through all that, spending all that money, and not being willing to give up bread? That was the craziest thing I had ever heard! I can eat toast okay, but no soft bread, and I don't miss it either. Some things are just worth sacrificing.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
