Hi all,

I was operated on June 9th and have since lost 17 kilos (!). So things are going great but I'm getting a feeling I'm about to plateau a bit,

which I'd like to avoid if possible. I was thinking it would be time to go back to the gym. My surgeon basically said to go back on July 10th, i.e. a month later, but I was thinking of going tonight. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I'd follow the doctor's instructions. [but, I'm a pelvic surgeon, so I'm biased.] :-)

Seriously, it's just four more days; follow your doctor's advice. There's a reason we tell you things.

Thanks for this. Did I mention I was just going to spin class, not any weight training or nothing? So do you still think I should wait? I'm just an aerobics freak...

Diet is key. If your not loosing the weight try upping your calorie intake. 600 to 1000 cal a day and working out you should be okay.

Yeah but question remains - can I go to spin class tonight or should I wait? Thanks.

Lmao. I'm sorry. If you feel like you can go for it. Listen to your body. If you feel any strain on your abdomen stop and make sure you stay hydrated. Have fun.

THANKS everybody! I'll keep you posted

Hey people, so I did go and have my spin class, but I was WRECKED on the bike. Don't know if it was the fact that I'm still kinda obese (almost overweight!) or because the surgery's still having an effect on me. I did manage to pull through and do my best for 45 minutes and work up quite a sweat... Going again tomorrow and Saturday! Gonna try to, anyway. Also, did a few sets on the chest pump... Is that bad? thanks everybody!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
