The Candidate 3,215 Posted July 10, 2015 @@shemica This is a "no embarrassment" zone. Believe me, we've all been there and done that. I use large size beach towels and the ends never meet together when I wrap one around my body. There's like a Grand Canyon size chasm in the middle!
danaadoo 26 Posted July 10, 2015 This is all so helpful and encouraging. My list contains practically everything you all have said. Thank you thank you all for this forum!!! God bless!
VDB 800 Posted July 10, 2015 I would add, in the TMI category, I would like to be able to look down and see my private parts without a belly in the way!!! I also would like to sit on a wooden or metal folding chair without breaking it. After 70# down and almost 3 months, the victories keep coming. I can bend over and weed my garden without getting down on the ground, and when I do get on the ground, I can get up without using something to rise. I actually bought a T-shirt, extra large tall, at JC Penny yesterday, I honestly cannot remember buying a garment in a regular store. Good thread, thanks! Chrystee 838 Posted July 10, 2015 @@MOMMY2MGM Hear you on the vagina issue. Me and my vagina haven't shared a monologue in eons. You are cracking me up with your pranks and this. LOL! I have hips and a huge butt - I'm also 9 days post op. I can not wait to not have to worry if my butt will fit in a regular chair with handles or at least hurt after a few mins of being squeezed in it. Anywhere. (Theme parks included) Same Goes for airplanes seats ! I went to Greece last year and my first flight was spent in a tiny seat ( for me ) for 9 hours in horrible pain that turned into bruises, paid extra for 1st class on the way back. Also can't wait to stop rummaging through my drawers for the perfect outfit that fits good vs just grabbing what I want to wear. I have really adventurous friends who like to do crazy things, and id love to join in instead of being scared I'll break something or won't be able to do it. Also being hit on by normal dudes when I go out with my friends lol. Amen. I'm going to Australia soon.. and I'm hoping to be 90-100 pounds down by then, because otherwise, OMG, the flight is SO long, and I would be so terribly uncomfortable before!! I can't wait to put on a regular airplane seatbelt and it not be on the very end of the belt..
MIMISAN 404 Posted July 10, 2015 I remember not going to any of my high school reunions because I was to embarrassed by my size. I will be so happy not to miss get togethers because of shame.
The Candidate 3,215 Posted July 10, 2015 @@MIMISAN I hadn't even thought of that until you mentioned it. I was fat all during my school years, and cruelly treated. So as it wasn't really a pleasant experience to remember, I never had any desire to go back. But soon we won't have to preface every plan we make with having to work around our discomfort. What a joy that will be too, as we all deserve a place in the sun. And I'm reserving that lovely spot right over there! ???? Life is good!

lauraellen80 855 Posted July 10, 2015 I remember not going to any of my high school reunions because I was to embarrassed by my size. I will be so happy not to miss get togethers because of shame. I skipped both my 5-year and 10-year college reunions because of my weight, and I really regret it. I've lost touch with a lot of people over the years because I don't want people to see how fat I've gotten.
MIMISAN 404 Posted July 10, 2015 @@The Candidate I wasn't the most popular in school but I always considered myself fat. Then once I got married and pregnant I made it a reality. Then when it came time to go back for reunions I refused because I felt like such a slug. Over the years I keep getting bigger and bigger and even though I know I am doing it to myself it doesn't make it any easier. I would like to be able to attend the next reunion and just be able to accept myself and be happy. I have always been the joker and cut up and probably that personality was created as a defense. I like the personality so I will keep that but this weight has got to goooooooooo.

There are so many here who I wish I could personally thank whose posts got me through the long waiting period! But it would take years! When it's our turn we will both live up to their stellar examples! And then come back and inspire the next generation! ????
DIESELD47 9 Posted July 12, 2015 I won't miss: sweating excessively for no reason (even in winter) not connecting my seatbelt on some planes because I'm too embarassed to ask for an extender (I know, very dangerous but I did it twice in the past) not shopping at (God bless them for being there for me) Lane Bryant, Ashley Stewart, Torrid and all of the other plus size stores shopping mostly online because there's more variety not wearing Spanx all the time thigh friction
LipstickLady 25,682 Posted July 12, 2015 I don't miss putting ice cream/chips/cookies/etc (I have kids, people!!) in my shopping cart and worrying about judgmental looks. You know, because fat people should know better. I don't miss sweating my ass off doing every day things. I don't miss looking for the biggest size in the stack of clothing because I am NOT the biggest size. I don't miss being the biggest mom in the room at school events. Hell! I don't miss being the biggest person in the room at any event. I don't miss wearing full make up and hair every time I walked out of the house because if I was going to be the fat chick, I wasn't going to be the unkempt fat chick. I don't miss walking into the gym and having people give me the "GOOD FOR YOU FOR TRYING" looks (I am sure it was all in my imagination) for making it through a workout or class. I miss NOTHING about being extremely fat and unhealthy. NOTHING.
