Do you weigh yourself daily or weekly?

Recommended Posts

I am 5 weeks post op. I've stuck to each phase of the diet. I just moved to pureed foods a week ago. I have lost weight each week and am down 60 pounds since March. However, for the past two days my weight has gone up a couple of pounds. My calories are below 800 calories a day, most days much less. Is yhis something to be concerned about?

If you are following your plan there is nothing to be concerned about. I weigh daily sometimes but only count my weekly weigh in which for me is sunday morning. Good luck!! Hang in there!

Heck no! You are doing great! If you stay on this forum very much, you will see the dreaded "3 week stall" talked about daily. I hit it at 2 weeks, others at 4 or 5 weeks. Just part of the process. I am a daily weigher but I will not allow the scales to dictate my day. Many suggest weighing yourself weekly. Just be sure you are getting your required amounts of Protein and Water and you will see the scales moving in the right direction before too long. Frustrating - yes! Lesson in patience and discipline - Yes! Just keep up your great work!

As long as you are following your plan, there are going to be normal fluctuations in your weight. Could be bloating from too much salt, hormonal changes, being backed up (poop)....who knows. It takes a lot to gain "real" weight at your point from just overeating. It's almost impossible, because you just can't eat enough to right now (unless your grazing like ALL DAY).

As long as you understand the scale will fluctuate when you weigh daily and you won't let it ruin your day by seeing it, then yes, by all means weigh daily. If you don't want to see them, weigh weekly.

9 months out and I weigh daily... morning and night. I like to, I don't know why... scale hasn't moved in a while, but I still do it anyway. don't sweat the up or down of a few pounds. our bodies vary greatly each day, even morning to evening can swing a couple pounds in either direction.

I weigh daily and track it in MyFitnessPal. After using the restroom, sometimes I'll hop on the scale again to get a more accurate number. I haven't stressed over the number much, but I want all the datapoints I can get.

I weigh daily, can't help myself. Not sure if it's wise or not but I have to have self control in my food choices and to exercise, on this one, I give in to what I want.

Monthly. Otherwise I get scale obsessed and it makes me crazy. The good thing is I probably missed my 3 week stall because I only weigh once a month. Instead I try to focus on eating well and exercising daily.

I am on my knees bowing to you! I don't think I could do that! Wow! What discipline!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
