@@HealthyJudy - I have not tried acupuncture before but it was suggested under another similar post today (not sure if that was you), but I immediately looked for an acupuncturist. It gives me hope this might make this more livable!

I have used it for several things in the past. It will help with indigestion if that is a problem. I am lucky in that I have an acupuncturist (several actually) in the same suite where I work. When I had knee surgery a friend of mine came to my house and her treatment led to my first bowel movement. She also did a few needles to help the scar heal. I hope it helps you.

Miralax!! Take it daily for 2 weeks then reduce it until you find your balance.... once, twice a week maybe more... you'll know when it's right for you.

Perk: it makes you get an extra 8oz of liquid in before bed.

Also, if it's safe for children and pregnant women, it cannot be bad

Will ask doc tomorrow but I think it is in list of things I can't take post surgery. Did your doc approve it?

I found mineral oil and milk of magnesia to work finally. Mineral oil is a good daily thing you can do. I do it at night so I make sure I'm home and not out and about

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have a long list of "remedies" to ask about at my doctors visit tomorrow. I did have success today after taking milk of magnesia but I know that is something they said they did not want me to take on a regular basis...but after 6 days I could not wait any longer!

The painkillers, Tylenol #3, Tramadol, etc., are constipating. Dehydration will make you constipated, too. Milk of Magnesia and adding Fiber helps. I have been using Fiber Smart, a clear fiber that is not wheat based, since I'm gluten intolerant. I also take Probiotics and try to eat plain Chobani greek yogurt mixed with Protein Powder and add the fiber.

I've had diarrhea since my surgery on the 29th...my post op symptoms are the opposite of everybody's...I knew I was a freak????

Not a freak -- we all have so many different reactions to the same procedure. Hope your docs were able to give you meds to stop the diarrhea -- need to not get dehydrated.

Now that I am at 7 weeks I am finally allowed to use Miralax. I'm hoping that will offer a long term solution. I;ve had several short term solutions but none of those are things I can take on a regular basis. They did offer immediate (well within 16 hours) relief and my weight started moving down a little again.

Sorry for the TMI post that follows....

I was Sleeved two weeks ago. The first few poops were bad! Solids and difficult to pass. I'm not yet regular, but hopefully getting there. I use to be daily like clockwork, no coffee or help needed. Tonight I had a pain in my lower tummy, figured it might be time to poop. Made it just in time. Sadly explosive poo is not something that I enjoy. Hubby thinks I need to up my Protein, so I'll try that. But I agree, this is not something that can be brought up amongst polite conversation with most people.

Colace is a good stool softner to take. I took Milk of Mag once and I'll never do it again. If I start having problems with going I take one Colace a day until I 'go'. No cramping or anything.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
