Tomorrow marks 10 months since I was banded at SlimBand in Toronto. It was the BEST decision of my life. I am down 93 lbs since my pre-op diet started on August 20. I have no regrets. I have 14 lbs to go to reach my goal, and I plan to reach it by the one year anniversary date which is Sept. 4. I would love to help others to achieve success as well. Please do not hesitate to ask me questions.

Just a question, as a lap bander, when you reach YOUR goal, what will you do differently??/

That is a good question. My husband asks me the same thing. But my body seems to want to weigh what I weigh right now. So I think that I will just be able to coast along with eating the same amount that I'm eating now and maybe giving myself a break on the cardio. i will remain active but will hopefully be able to settle down on my obsessive exercise.

Amen to that!

I have found, it is a lifestyle change, and I will continue the way I am for the rest of my life....getting to my goal was primarily a learning experience....some hard knocks with stuck episodes, etc.....

BTW, I did continue to loose until my body was at where it wanted to be....

Congratulations on your success....you obviously "Get it"

Great to read about success with the gastric banding. So much of what is written is about the challenges that it can be a downer. Congratulations!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
