When does the tiredness end?

Recommended Posts

I was tired real bad for the first week, and the second week was so much better, just got tired when walking and showering. Other than that, my surgery and recovery was a breeze.

I had my surgery May 5th, and up until the last couple of weeks I have been exhausted. It gets better every week, but I've never had so little energy. I've been incorporating more and more exercise, and that helps, but I do think this takes several months to get back to "normal" or at least a new "normal."

I asked the doctor at my follow-up appointment and he said about three months of tiredness before we feel like we get back to normal. He was also sleeved.

that's great to know! It seems that upping my D3 & walking has helped a bit. did that simultaneously so not sure if increase is from one or both.

Yeah it was 2-3 weeks for me. Once I felt better (less pain and just post op stuff) the fatigue was the worst! Like I felt too tired to stand in the shower for 10 mins! But by three weeks I was fine!

I am exactly a week out and I don't feel tired all day, but once or twice a day I feel a crash coming on. I have stayed busy and when I get that feeling I just take a sip of grape or apple juice and it puts me back in the groove. i think when your body kicks over to ketosis your energy gets better. I had a few days of eating nothing at all and I think that moved the process along faster for me.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
