Day 3 Pre-op liquid diet

Recommended Posts

Please, tell me it gets better.

I'm so low energy, hungry, cranky, and have a headache.

I'm really hoping today is the worst day - I thought I read that by day 4 it gets better.

I'm at work and for some reason there are 3 cakes and homemade ice cream here today. I'll just be hiding in my cube.

Stay in your cube, Forget the cakes, it WILL get better, I promise. It got to where I didn't even mind people eating around me. I don't know how long your Liquid Protein diet is, mine was 14 days. You'll be glad you did! Best wishes on all the upcoming changes.

I am also on Day 3 of Pre-Op Diet. Just think how bad and guilty you would feel if you gave in and ate the cake and ice cream. It's not worth it. Hang in there - we can do this!

I had my surgery on the 29th, believe me it gets better. Just think of your goal. Going through this last process will make your surgery faster and safer. Resulting in less pain and a faster recovery time. Yay for shrinking livers, haha.

Hi Ladyvalle,

I too, am 62 and had my RNY surgery June 16th. I'm feeling pretty good almost 3 weeks out now, just a little sore and having a hard time getting all the Water and Protein in each day. I see the nutritionist tomorrow per my plan. I did 2 weeks Liquid Protein pre-surgery and it really wasn't that bad after the first 3-4 days. Just take it a couple of hours at a time. I was amazed at how filling they were. But now, since I have to drink it so slowly, I'm not enjoying it anymore. My refried Beans and yogurt are my best friends now.

Of course you're nervous, we all are........but I am already so happy that I did it, the age wasn't a problem. You'll do great.

Day 3 was the worst. I've lost almost all my hunger pains and have lost over 10 lbs.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
