Bounce Back After Surgery

Recommended Posts

Hi all! Let me start by saying how thankful I am to have you and your questions/answers. I'm not very acclimated to the site so I never feel I can find the answer to MY questions without asking it myself. So, my question:

I was sleeved 4/13 of this year and overall was doing well. Ive lost 52 lbs and several inches but struggled with Protein and dehydration. I really had a hard time with Water.< /p>

10 days ago I had to have my gallbladder removed due to the formation of stones. It was fairly easy. The insane nausea the week before surgery and the week after as well as my sensitivity now has put a MAJOR kink in my food choices. I was on the gallbladder bland diet. Which is starches and carbs mostly. I gained a pound the week of surgery even though I barely ate. I'm OK with this. It was either gain or starve. But will I be able to bounce back quickly? The food issues are 50% gallbladder nausea and 50% the switch to solids (which I had JUST done when the symptoms started). The water problem is gone (yea) but its still VERY hard to eat any Proteins without getting nausea.

I guess I just need reassurance that this will pass and I will get back on track.

I don't have any advice at all. Can you not tolerate Protein shakes? How about getting some Zofran from your dr for the nausea? Not helpful I know. Just wanted to say sorry you are going through this.

So sorry you are having such nausea! I also don't really have much advice but just wanted to offer up some support. I really think once you recover from the gall bladder that hopefully things will get a bit easier for you! I really hope things start to improve for you soon!

What does your doctor say? It's not unheard of, but some patients have difficulty digesting Protein (especially fatty foods) before AND after gallbladder removal. I'd expect that you'd be better in the next few weeks.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
