asauce413 8 Posted July 2, 2015 Hi! Has anyone with a BMI under 40 with other issues been approved by tufts? What did they require you to do for approval? What was your BMI and comorbidities?
sleeveless 1962 7 Posted July 2, 2015 Yes I was my surgery is July 14th my BMI is 38 but I have high blood pressure with medication and pre-diabetic. The only requirement they have is you have to go through the "I can change" program it is a six month program. Once I completed that I got my approval in three days. Good luck! asauce413 8 Posted July 2, 2015 They actually eliminated the I can change program as of January of this year. So I am trying to hear from someone who's been approved since then! That is so exciting for you..congratulations. My surgeon was the one who told me they got rid of that program.

sleeveless 1962 7 Posted July 2, 2015 I was just approved in late June according to their website that is still a requirement but may their website is not up to date. You should call them and ask.
asauce413 8 Posted July 2, 2015 Yes, I called as well. It is no longer a requirement for sure. Everyone I've spoken to was approved while it was, so I am lost! Lol! I just want to know what the approval process is like now without it.
asauce413 8 Posted July 2, 2015 I just called again to verify and the rep from Tufts said there are no longer any specific requirements, they just need proof it is medically necessary. I am sure I will be absolutely fine then since I have a few issues directly related to weight.

asauce413 8 Posted July 2, 2015 I hope so! Thank you. Good luck as well! So exciting. What a long road..the rep said their feedback for the I Can Change program was that customers didn't like it. What did you think of it?
Margie122 845 Posted July 2, 2015 I had a starting BMI of 41.6 and now it is 38. I have one more visit before they can submit my paperwork to Tufts. I did not have to do the I can change program. I have high blood pressure and severe sleep apnea. Hopeful to submit my paperwork in the next month. Good luck.
