So on June 9th i got the approval from my insurance for my surgery! HOORAY!! A couple days later, I got my letter in the mail and I took it over to the doctors office, she told me the scheduler will be in touch with me to set up my surgery date and the last of the pre-surgery testing. That was almost 3 weeks ago. Ive called several times inquiring as to what the hold up is, but they keep telling me they have to coordinate the testing to be done on the same morning. I get that, I guess. But at the same time, the waiting is KILLING me. Im ready to move on from all of this. Im ready to be on the losers bench. Im ready to start living the new me. I try to focus on whats going on now, keeping busy, making sure ive got everything organized and arranged for when surgery does roll around and most importantly, im keeping a watchful eye on my diet and exercise. This process has been a year in the making as of this month. Its been a difficult rollercoaster for sure.

"Good things come to those who wait" seems like my never ending mantra lately.

Is this a normal length of time to wait to get surgery scheduled after approval? Or am i just that impatient? lol

I got really lucky with my drs office they worked with me from day 1 I told them my son is military & he will be taking care of me after surgery & he deploys this summer so they scheduled everything around my son's leave, that is also I think why I am not 1 bit nervous about anything cuz I know I am in great hands they call & check up on u all the time & make sure u know exactly where u stand with insurance appoval they told me 2 weeks it only took 2 days ????

Blessed on this discussion

Hope u get ur surgery date soon

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
