I've lost a total of 84 pounds since I had my surgery in November 2014. Originally my goal weight was between 120-130, then when I saw my doctor at my 6 month check up he said he wanted me between 110-120 because he said that it would be better for my body type. I am 5 foot 1 inch, so you can imagine I'm a pretty tiny individual. I currently weigh 140. I feel like since I hit the 6 month mark my weight loss has slowed down dramatically. I think it may be because I'm not eating as well as I should be. I'm sure it's as simple as getting back to basics with my eating to kick it in the butt a little. But has anyone else noticed that their weight loss slowed down dramatically? Everyone keeps telling me that the last 20 pounds are usually the hardest to lose. Which is aggravating. I do work out at a minimum of 5 days a week, so I am very active doing cardio and weight training. Just want to hear the stories of others.

It does get harder the closer you get. One simple reason is you need fewer calories just to exist as your weight drops (and you burn fewer calories when you exercise at a lighter weight). But we also tend to stray from "the basics" as we get further out just as you say.

Some people also find they can eat more and their appetite returns at six months or so. Or they start eating sliders so they can eat more without feeling the restriction.

Yes, my weightloss has slowed down considerably. The positive thing is I'm still losing inches as my clothes can attest to that. We're in this for the long haul so be patient and keep doing what you know you're supposed to be doing. More importantly, don't compare yourself or your journey with others because we are all different and so are our journeys. Be sure to Celebrate your non-scale successes along the way.

What's weird is in my case, increasing my calories seemed to do the trick to speed things up after 6 months. I went from 800-900 calories at about 6 months, to gradually increasing to my current 1200-1250. I also do cardio (running, elliptical) and weights 4-5 days a week. It has come off pretty darn steadily this last four months.

You're so close! You can do this!

Thank you guys! I'm going to try going back to basics and writing everything down that I'm consuming and see where I'm going wrong. I'm sure its because I'm so close to goal, but also I'm 100% sure that its because I'm not eating as well as I should be. Got to reset myself.

I can see that if you've kept your calories that low the whole time. But by six months many have stopped tracking and the calories are creeping higher and they aren't aware. So tracking is gonna show Anyone where they are at and then they can make adjustments accordingly. If they aren't aware that they've crept up to 1500 or so they can adjust downwards if they realize they are consistently 600-800 they can adjust upwards. Tracking is a tool.

Yeah, and I wasn't losing that much and stalling ALL THE TIME. Funny, it took me a while to figure out I just needed to increase my calories. Slow learner, I guess :) 1200-1300 seems to be my sweet spot right now, because I've been losing pretty consistently the last few months.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
