Water bottle with a small opening so I can take small sips of Water

small bowls for meals

small spoon and fork - so I remember to eat slow.

another good reminder - I only eat at the dinner table. No more eating at the coffee table or at my desk (or in my car when driving).

My food scale

I also have to use to straws to drink or it's not happening.

My couch - I'm a full time teleworker from home and sitting in a regular chair at the desk doesn't work. The couch with my laptop is much more comfortable.

My Water bottle that I now take around everywhere.

My Fitbit and My Fitness Pal apps along with my weight loss tracker app. They give me a nice visual tracking system and keeps me honest with myself. 2 years later I still use them daily.

Straws- because at almost 2 years post-op I still don't like drinking without a straw

MyFitnessPal- keeps me accountable

Scales- I use two of them every morning- it's a constant reminder that it is very easy to get fat again

BariatricPal- I usually check in here about once a day while I'm at my desk working

Plastic Baggies, Small Dishes- Instead of eating anything right from the container, I always portion things out in bags or little tupperware dishes

I agree on all the Water bottles, but this app is truly a daily help! So many answers and all different questions. At this point it seems like I kinda know my cyber friends ...

We have a lot in common

Happy fourth????????

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
