MountianGirl 109 Posted July 1, 2015 Last night I went to class at the gym where I've been going for a few years. A guy friend was there who's been gone since February and when I walked in he asked the trainer who that was. Hello! How awesome is that?! I was never someone who turned heads but it seems to be happening enough that I'm starting to believe I do look different. Such a friggin head game this weight loss surgery! heynowkc 329 Posted July 1, 2015 (edited) Awesome! I can't wait until I turn up somewhere where people I know don't recognize me! (In a non-Twilight-Zone type way of course!) Congrats! Edited July 1, 2015 by heynowkc
gowalking 10,790 Posted July 2, 2015 It's not great when you are not recognized. I went through that at work. I was on medical leave and was out for 7 weeks. When I got back to the office, alot of people truly did not recognize me. It was very disconcerting.
MountianGirl 109 Posted July 2, 2015 I agree-its a very strange feeling to not be recognized until people hear your voice. I honestly don't think I look that different but clearly I'm wrong. The other part of that is that I avoided full length mirrors my whole life so I don't have a clear picture of how my body actually looked/looks.
LovinSoul 113 Posted July 15, 2015 At first I was concerned about the whole "not being recognized" phenomenon. I've found it has become a real rush for me depending upon how the person "recognizing" me approaches me. I've found it mostly happening in the gym and in general people are sincerely impressed with the work I've done and how it's changed me. That's a big NSV! Occasionally I get someone who notices but was previously a person who "looked through me" (the whole invisible obese person thing). That usually pisses me off, like I want to say "buzz off, you didn't care before....get your sideshow thrills elsewhere."
