Anyone else fantasize about working out? ?

Recommended Posts

As my surgery date approaches, I fantasize a lot about the aftermath. Of course the smaller clothes and all that is something I think about, BUT I find I mostly fantasize about working out! Anyone else with me on that? ? I have always enjoyed working out, that sweat and burn afterward but my knees and ankles and back usually put a halt to the intensity I like to have. I loved yoga but holding 250+ lbs steady kinda takes away from that. Anyway, I dream about being able to run a 5k, maybe even a half marathon some day. Putting on something other than a baggy tshirt and sweat pants and hitting it hard at the gym for an hour. I can't wait!

In my dreams preop I would dream that I could run for blocks and blocks without getting winded. It was kind of like flying. I enjoy a bit of running now, but I have a long way to go before I could run too far without getting tired.

I keep looking for new types so I will never get bored. I just ordered a trampoline, and am considering getting some of those Cardiff skates I've recently heard about. Anything to keep the momentum and excitement going!

Me! I exercise regularly now, but my weight does make some activities difficult, uncomfortable or sometimes painful. Plus my doctor said no excercising for the first 4 weeks. He's ok with low speed walking and moving - just nothing sweaty and heart pumping. Thinking of even that is hard for me.

I already have started doing the exercises they demonstrated in my class. I'm doing 10 exercises 2x a day. A minute for each. Can't wait until I can do more. I've had 5 back surgeries which makes this more difficult for me, but I'm hanging in there great! ☺

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
