englandgirlsleever 11 Posted August 15, 2015 I'm horrible I've been cheating in the pre op liquid diet and I'm 4 days away from surgery Sorry if I sound blunt but.. Why are you even having the surgery then? It's not just 7-14 days liquid diet and then tadaaaar magic happen! It's a life long commitment, especially as I can see your now having a bypass! You really need to think whether you're doing the right thing. You have to be 100% for it at this stage or you seriously will have psychological problems along the line! jennfred 25 Posted August 15, 2015 So my preop diet has been fresh fruits vegetables chicken and fish. I do have a Protein Shake for Breakfast and a lot of Water. I'm having surgery on Wednesday and plan to do liquids only on Monday and Tuesday. The main reason for the two weeks of liquids only is to reduce the fat around the liver if your BMI is over 40. After everything I've read if they go in to do surgery and there is too much fat around your liver they may not be able to complete the procedure
Floey84 31 Posted August 15, 2015 I didn't have to on the 2 week liquid diet, jus for 1 week only I've been having mostly liquids . I "cheated and ate like a handful of rice with very small pieces of fish. I ate it because I was so hungry and weak. I'm learning from this though as to why it's happening I need to drink more Protein and liquids. I've been stuck on sugar free popsicles. I know that after surgery when I have liquids I will feel more versus the way I feel now pre op.

jfer 15 Posted August 15, 2015 Im august 24th. Is anyone else starving to death?? Day 4 of shakes only im not seeing ten more days as possible. Your not alone starving. I have been bad on my suppose to be liquid diet and my surgery is Aug.20th. Staying at home seems to make me more hungry watching food on TV.So I pick up OT at work so I get distracted and just drink my shakes.Monday I will drink my MgCitrate to get rid of the solids then I have to be strong not to eat anymore but drink till surgery. All I meant was be doing it for the right reasons! I've read lots of story's where people have cheated and it been fine, but I didn't cheat once and still had to have extra incisions as liver was heavy! Just think of it has a great opportunity to start over with your body and start it now, it gets harder before it gets easier! Just think positive ???? ang4u 1 Posted August 15, 2015 I have been on the liquid diet two weeks, it's been hard but I realize more being on it that I wanted to eat out of habit and not because I'm hungry, the key is making sure you get your Protein Drinks in.
