My very own gastric sleeve

Recommended Posts

Hi- I'm Jeff, a 50 year old Marylander who just underwent a sleeve on Friday. After a miserable Saturday and a terrible Sunday morning things picked up and I am home. Drank some medicine cups of Water, some Premier Protein chocolate and now having some warm chicken broth. Still pretty sore, but after all- they yanked a big chunk of a major organ out of my side...so what should I expect. Walking has been key...took a nap this afternoon and then walked outside for 24 minutes...clearly too much for 2 days post. I hope to be able to read some inspiring stories on this forum, to hear people's frustrations (mine? I came home and was HUNGRY!!) and to Celebrate their triumphs. Hopefully this will turn out to be a life changer for me. What can I expect these next few days as I consume liquids and more liquids. When does the belly feel better? Let me hear from you !

God Bless,

Jeff

I am almost three weeks out and my stomach is feeling great. The only pain I have at this point is from the fact that my incision popped open at the surface level on my surgical glue came off. So not its like a large open cut, which is quite sore. But my pain declined significantly about every two days and it was probably nearly all going in about week or so. Good luck to you on your journey!

Jeff, hopefully by today, you are feeling somewhat better. I am 8 days post sleeve and, aside from being bored with liquids, feel pretty good. I do nap in the afternoon but I'm up early to walk and get my prayers in. Hang in there. It will get better! And go O's!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
