Isopure Disgusting!

Recommended Posts

I like the Isopure Green Tea but I drink the Alpine Punch flavor as well. I agree about not smelling them but I don't mind the taste at all.

Niiiiiice, for the Protein powder though, its an acquired taste. I just hurl after drinking it. Maybe I should try your smoothie recipes can you PM some and the powder brand?

You don't need Protein powders, just make some chicken or fish congee and lentil Soups post op.... Your hunger will be for thirst and not food..... DO NOT OVERTHINK POST OP... Apple juice is your favorite buddy for like 3 weeks.... You will feel no hunger, so do not buy stuff you will not need. I am 3.5 months post op, so trust me! @@laceygorrell

I would disagree. Even if you aren't hungry it is critical to get enough Protein for healing and weight loss. It is almost impossible to get enough protein when you are on Clear liquids without supplements. Especially when you are healing and swollen. You just don't have the space initially to just drink broths in sufficient quantity to get enough protein.

Its alright to disagree, everyone follow their doctors advice. Any protein liquids made me hurl. If Incontinued, I could have developed complications. I had to improvise to survive!

And I lost 28 kilo since March 11, so I must be doing something right....

I never tried the Isopure, but I will tell you the Syntrax nectar powders are really good! The grape and cherry are my favorites. I also have used vanilla bean torte and chocolate truffle to make more substantial Protein smoothies (with frozen fruit).

I really like the Isopure zero carb drinks. The Orange pineapple banana is my favorite. I drink about half a bottle at a time over ice. I didn't notice a bad smell, but the texture is a little off-putting. It looks like it should be the consistency of gatorade, but it's thicker than that. For me, they go down easier some days than a shake if I'm running low on Protein.< /p>

I ended up throwing away 3/6 bottles. I always dry heaved and had to choke it down. I am still on Clear Liquids 5 days post op, and have been mixing unflavored Unjury with everything or using the chicken Soup unjury. I can't wait until full liquids next week so I can go back to my premiere protein!!

I am being very careful to eat lots of Protein but I have to agree with some of the others. I have not had any food that caused my stomach to roll except the protein supplement mixes I've tried. I am so glad to be in the pureed phase. I'll puree liver and eat it before I take another sip of the drinks. I have three large containers of protein supplement mix - Fuzzy Navel, chocolate Latte, and vanilla. Anyone know the best way to disguise these? At this point they may be best put in the trash can. I'm wretching just thinking about them.

Try mixing it 50/50 with crystal light, or something similar. It really helps.

The isoprene Protein Powder is the bomb! Tasteless and no bulky texture! 26g of Protein in a scoop! I use champion Nutrition Ultramet as my daily Protein Drink, 42g of p /pouch, (I use 1/2 a serving now as I'm 3 weeks out). I add a scoop of Isopure and get a huge boost . I tried the Isopure drink pre surgery and agree---yuck! Good luck everyone!!

I saw this thread after buying two bottles of Isopure today! I was a little worried! But I tried the Blue Raspberry (over ice, cut with a little water) and it tasted fine to me. Funny how tastes can be so different. The only Protein Shake I like is Unjury. Tried about five others and yuck!

Everyone has different taste preferences. I actually do like the grape flavored Isopure and was glad to have something that wasn't a smoothie or a shake. I sipped on it throughout my work day and anytime I felt myself wanting to snack in order to get my Protein in.

Maybe the site should have a place to buy/sell/trade Protein Drinks people didn't like. I am getting ready to buy some Isopure I really like the ones I have tried.

I love Isopure Zero Carb and would still drink it everyday if it was cheaper. The powder is the only kind I ever tried, however. I lost 100 pounds after the first 5 months after surgery. The Isopure helped me achieve this goal. Two 12 ounce servings a day will give you 100 grams of Protein. Like others have said, everyone is different.

My opinion is that you get use to the taste of it if you stick with it for a few weeks. The benefits of the protein/vitamin/minerals outweigh the smell.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
