So my doc says I should be drinking 4 bottles of Water a day, at least. I am almost three weeks post op. Despite trying like mad to drink water all day, I am still coming up short. I am thinking I am just taking too long to drink... perhaps just being extra cautious. Any feedback on how long it takes you to drink a 16 oz bottle of water?? I've been sipping on the same bottle since about 9am and it's nearly noon.

It seems as though it takes me forever to drink Water but I just keep on sipping. I end up drinking more and more every day.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. I can drink liquids easily. I can drink 16 ounces in 30 minutes. It does make me wonder if my food restriction will be enough. (Sleeved on Monday)

Keep sipping. It should improve over time.

Buy a 34 or 32 oz water bottle & don't use a straw to sip. It makes it crazy hard to achieve your goal for some reason. It worked for me & I was sleeved 4/01/15 & I can clear 64oz of Water now :) good luck!!

I'm having better luck w/ Water intake if I use a bottle that has an opening about the size of an aquafina Water bottle. I had been using my nice contigo bottle, but something about the wide mouth and how much I'm drinking doesn't work well. The smaller mouth on the aquafina bottle helps enforce smaller sips for me. I know this sounds kind-of dumb, but maybe it will help you too.

Bizzy, I completely understand what you are going through. I was just sleeved on Wedensday and haven't beenable to drink 64oz in a day. I can say each day I am, getting better but it's still a challenge. Today I have had 37oz and it's 5pm so I will get more in but definitely not 64oz!

I started adding the Dasani or Kool Aid flavor drops. Aspartame gives me wicked headaches and these don't seem to bother me. They for sure help make my Water goals!!

I loved plain Water prior to surgery but now (3 1/2 weeks post) i can hardly stand it. I find i can get more in if i drink crystal light or herbal tea.

I absolutely love Water... I've had a lot of bad eating habits but Water is my one healthy habit lol I just want to chug, chug, chug but can't lol Thank you for all of the tips! I am a bit fearful of drinking more but I think I am under estimating what I can get in there! Hoping to start reaching 64 oz very soon!

I can only take about three sips at a time without pain...I just keep the H2O nearby all the time...at least for now!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
