keddykat75 57 Posted June 28, 2015 What does your pre-op consist of? It is so strange to me how it varies so much between surgeons.
leshell36 23 Posted June 28, 2015 I agree @keddykat. Protein Shake for Breakfast Orange for snack 1/2 cup veggies and 3-4 Oz lean meat for lunch and dinner Frozen popsicle *sugar free* for another snack. And another Protein Drink
Norma Galitzen 26 Posted June 28, 2015 I'm getting sleeved on July 16th. I started my pre op diet last Tuesday. I am supposed to have a Protein shake for both breakfast and lunch, a lean cuisine or healthy choice meal for dinner and in between if I am hungry or just feel like eating I can have unlimited sugar free Jello, sugar free popsicles or broth. alisawoo22 13 Posted June 28, 2015 I start my pre-op on the 1st. My surgery is scheduled for July 15th (how are your guys' nerves?!!) - and my pre op diet consists of low carb. Less than 40 g of carbs a day. Liver shrinking diet is what they call it.

Luckily only the first meal post-op will be clear then it is full liquids for 2 weeks and then soft( not puréed for 2 weeks.

emtscott54 108 Posted June 29, 2015 As of today I have made it through the first of two weeks. I have to drink 4 of these New Direction shakes a day. I am not allowed any other food. I can only have no or extremely low calorie fluids, so basically Water or crystal light. I will say that around day 4 or 5 things got easier. The scale is really moving so that is a great motivator. I had one friend who cheated on his pre-op diet and the surgeon just sewed him back up without doing the surgery. The smaller the liver and stomach are at the time of surgery, the better job the surgeon can do and the better long-term results you can expect. I get sleeved in a week and a day and the only thing I know is that it is going to be an adventure. --Scott
