bandproblems 10 Posted August 31, 2015 I already lost 110 lbs with the band but the band needs to come out now because of problems and nothing passing through even after removing all Fluid. My surgeon recommend bypass but I am more for a sleeve. The insurance just came back and approved removal but not revision since my BMI is 28. How shortsighted. They did not even pay for my band initially since I was overseas and that insurance covered it. I am not going to be able to pay for the revision out of pocket. I do not really want to loose that much more weight since many people already ask me if I am sick or anything since I have been loosing so much in the last 4 years, and especially the last 2 years. If I could maintain my weight without the band I would be happy but I am not sure I have the willpower and most stories I hear or read say that people will gain back their weight even between removal and revision. The question is whether I would loose a lot more after bypass or sleeve revision.

It's hard to remember years later what it feels like with zero restriction. I was like an empty pit and completely starving in the months before my sleeve. Bndtoslv 292 Posted September 15, 2015 Hi All, as promised I'll update you! I am 11 or 12 weeks out now. I'll be there months out on September 30th. Down somewhere between 33-34lbs. I had a nasty stall around 3-6 weeks and have been losing around 2 lbs a week since then. I'm averaging about 10 per month since then. I haven't really been exercising enough because of travel. I am back into spinning as of tonight I think my capacity is about 5-6 ozs I usually eat about 3-4 ozs of Protein followed by a veg. I keep my carbs low. I'm pretty happy. My guess is that some people feel like sleeve is less effective because full feels different. With band I would vomit. Now I'm just satisfied. I'll keep updating if you all want. bandproblems 10 Posted November 1, 2015 Well, my band was removed after almost exactly 4 years and 120 lbs weight loss. Since the insurance did not cover the conversion I decided to do just the removal. I had the surgery last Wednesday around 8 am and was back home around 1 pm. I only ate some Soup that day and a few chips. It was an amazing feeling being able to actually eat a cup of Soup and having it go down without having to vomit it all out again. The next day I already ate some solids. The third day a regular Breakfast and lunch. Amazing. My stomach and belly were pretty sore for the first 3 days, especially when sitting down, getting up and eating. I also had a lot of issues using the restroom (urinary and bowel retention are very common after anesthesia) but it is getting back to almost normal. I realize I will probably gain some weight back but I will try to keep it to 10-15 lbs. I plan on continuing eating only half portions in restaurants and no more than 6-8 oz at home. Hopefully my willpower will be enough. I definitely do not want to get anywhere close to my old weight. I will keep you updated.

lillyD 7 Posted November 5, 2015 Get the sleeve. You will not regret it. Your body is not use to having foreign objects in it. Half the stomach leave the gall bladder. It's acting up cause of the foods your eating in small amounts. You can't eat what you want with a sleeve. They cut out the hormone that makes you go to those foods that irritate your gallbladder. Do research as to why your gallbladder would be acting up and how to heal it without taking it out. Then get the sleeve so you don't desire those foods. Knowledge is power. Pray about it ask God to give you Godly knowledge and for HIM to guide you in all arenas if your life. and listen you already know the foods that irritate you that's your body tellin you. ~ God Bless ya LillyD

My reflux is too bad and the sleeve is not an option. Many people revise from the sleeve to the bypass cause the sleeve tends to give you bad reflux. Can't go that route. I already had my gall bladder out earlier this year. Edited November 5, 2015 by HELLCATT81
Fatty McFatster 888 Posted November 5, 2015 I currently have an empty lap band and will be having the sleeve revision surgery on November 20th. I hope and believe I will be a success story, so I will have to check back in 6-12 months. Good luck to you!
