Has anyone found they needed to change jobs after WLS? I am 2.5 weeks post-op and returned to work Friday. I am asst manager at a convenient store which also has pizza and subs. I feel I'm going to have a hard time staying away from the food once I am back to full diet. The smells the past 2 days has been difficult. I'm thinking if I'm going to be successful in this journey I need less temptation. I love my job and the people I work with. But this journey is more important.

I just went back to work this last week too and while I don't work around food, I did find it a little difficult eating in the lunchroom watching everyone else. But it did get easier throughout the week. Give it some time and see if you can avoid those foods. (You can't physically eat them right now anyway without damaging your stomach.) Hopefully by the time you can move to real foods, you will be satisfied enough that those foods won't bother you any longer. But you are right, this journey is the most important. If you have too much temptation, you may have to look for something else. Meanwhile trust your "tool" and work the program. :)

I would probably switch jobs by that's just me. I can't imagine being around food that much. I would just get sick from the smell.

Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
