shayfeisty 27 Posted June 28, 2015 Hey everyone! My journey started a little over a month ago when I decided I wasn't wanting to slowly kill myself anymore. I went in for a consultation in Miami Fl on the last Thursday in May and was scheduled for surgery June 24. I was on a liquid diet the entire time and lost 28 pounds. My highest weight was 398 and the morning of surgery I weighed 370. My surgery went very smooth, my pain was controlled well and my only complication was the dry heaving from the anesthesia for a little over 7 hours. None of my incisions hurt anymore, I do however have severe pain above my belly button where they had to stich something down. I've been drinking propel and watered down G2 to keep hydrated and I can't wait to get to the puréed foods so I can have cottage cheese. I don't know why but I've been craving it like crazy. I attend college in Illinois and am hoping I'm healed enough to appear normal seeing as I haven't told anyone and I don't plan on telling anyone that I had the surgery. How much could I expect to lose by Christmas?

Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted June 28, 2015 Congratulations on taking such a big step at such a young age. I can't answer your question because how rapidly you lose weight varies based on so many factors: starting weight, height, fitness level, exercise, etc. I would encourage you to focus on the things you can control: Get in all your Protein, every day (eat Protein first) Staying hydrated, aim for at least 64 oz Fluid a day (edited again due to typo) Get some exercise (walk until you are cleared for other exercise) Stay off the scale (it can drive you nuts) (Edited to add because I sent send too soon:) Even though I am no longer in my twenties I am very interested in seeing college students succeed. Plus, my siblings went to U of I and Illinois State!
BizzyB 119 Posted June 28, 2015 It's really hard to say... people lose weight at such different rates. But if you follow you doctors instructions, I am sure you will be feeling and looking great! Good luck to ya on your journey!
ShrinkingPeach 1,291 Posted June 28, 2015 @@Inner Surfer Girl pretty much summed it up. It varies from person to person but you should do really well by the 6 month mark...Good luck!
ElleLB 17 Posted June 29, 2015 That's tough to answer...I've seen a lot of really encouraging stats regarding short term loss, but am trying so hard not to compare my journey to others.
