Recommended Posts

I am excited but a bit nervous as to how long it will take to feel well again post op and return to work and an active lifestyle

Any advice?

Hey, MarcK. It's different for each person, but I've been hearing it's about 6 weeks to get your energy level back to par. My med team says no intense workouts for at least 6 months.

Congratulations on your upcoming surgery, it's normal to have those questions. It depends on your surgeons restrictions. You may be restricted regarding lifting on the job and it may be affected by whether you have open bypass or laparoscopic. Regarding an active lifestyle it's the same thing, how long you will be on pain medication, how long you will be on blood thinners. All in all the time you spend recovering is important. Take it easy and heal so that you don't have any issues you could have avoided. You will be amazed at how active you will be when that weight starts coming off.
