What do you use to transport your protein powder?

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering how you all have/will transport your Protein Powder? My surgery is July 13th and I start my 10 day liver reduction diet on July 3rd. I will be doing 4 Protein Shakes a day, 1/2 cup of non startchy vegetables, sugar free clears, and fat free beef chicken or vegetable broth. I'm a nurse and work 13 hour shifts so on the days I work I'll need to bring everything with me, and my Protein Shake mix comes in a big tub. I found these http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/blenderbottle-reg-gostak-trade-starter-4pak/3254881?Keyword=blender+bottle , but I would want the all to be the same size. Any one have any ideas as a baggie seems wasteful to me. Thanks!

I have a Blender Bottle that comes with a little built in container. I use that to transport powders. Sometimes I use it to transport my Vitamins and Calcium things if I opt for a premixed Protein drink that morning. Got the Blender Bottle with the shaker thing at Target for like 10 or 11 bucks in a kicky hot pink shade :)

A lot of times I will make my shake the night before and bring it to work with me. Since I know that not all Protein powder shakes can be made ahead of time, I called unjury (my preferred powder) and asked about premaking and they said that was fine. Even if I didn't drink the shake within 24 hours of making it, it still tasted fine36-48 hours later. I have two different shakers I'll use along with assorted empty orange juice bottles (12 oz. +/- variety) when carrying my premade shakes. Also, I've started keeping a container of my powder in our kitchenette at work so I can make a shake anytime while at work. I've also used the snack baggies to put powder in and reuse those a few times.

I got these at Bed Bath & Beyond - http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/blenderbottle-reg-prostack-trade-22-oz-full-color-bottle/3254880?Keyword=blender+bottle - it has 2 little containers with each bottle and the larger one is just big enough to hold 1 scoop of Protein. There is also a little thing inside the lid of one of the containers that lets you transport Vitamins. Has worked great for me!

I used premade shakes for work and used mix at home. I also have the Blender Bottle with the compartments for powder from Target.

In the baby section at Target, etc. they have little containers that have 3-4 compartments for baby formula. I would think those would work well.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
