Rochellevsg 38 Posted June 26, 2015 I was sleeved 6/22 and it still hurts to swallow. It feels like everything I swallow is getting caught on the way down and that really hurts. It makes me not want to eat or drink anything. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there anything I can do to stop the pain? It hurts just to drink Water or eat pudding.< /p>
Recycled 2,182 Posted June 26, 2015 There're might be some soreness from the tubes and such used during surgery, but it should be minimal. Any discomfort I had went away in a couple of hours.
Daisee68 2,493 Posted June 26, 2015 Try smaller sips and smaller bites. That really helps. The pain can be from being full or from being able to take in too much at once. And try to slow it down a little. In the beginning, I set a timer and sipped every 5 minutes. You are very very early on and re-learning your new anatomy. When something hurts, try something new out while you are figuring out what that pain/discomfort means. hang in there. I felt MUCh better on Day 7.
alindsey 230 Posted June 26, 2015 It could also be a symptom of reflux. The acid burns the esophagus and can feel like something's sticks! Try liquid antacids and see if that elucidates it a bit!? Gaviscon works wonders!
MIMISAN 404 Posted June 27, 2015 I had that issue years ago after gallbladder surgery. It sounds like the intubation tubes were rough on your throat and that could be that the anesthesiologist was too rough. My pain lasted several days, but it will get better. It may not have anything to do with the sleeve part of your surgery. BUT ask your doctor. Best of luck!

lisainpa 1 Posted July 2, 2015 My dr. suggested to scope me because the Zantac and gas pills were not cutting it. I was still having pain after all their suggestions. I did not want the scope I am 5 months out and still need to watch everything I eat even with the Zantac/ Prilosec and gas pills. I have lost quite a bit of weight BUT...work hard everyday to get my Protein and Water in because I am losing hair now. I was only taking in about 30 protein a day....Thats not enough now I am trying to make sure I get everything in so I keep the hair I have and it doesnt start falling out again! Do what you have to sometimes when I would wait longer to drink it helped too, both before and after food.< /p>
Rochellevsg 38 Posted July 2, 2015 Thanks. The stuck pain feeling is still there but not as bad. I am struggling with Protein too. It's pretty rough right now. I can't wait for this phase to be over with.
