Sleeved Wednesday...questions

Recommended Posts

The pain I have been experiencing is in the center of my chest, right between my breasts.I am trying to sip Water but it feels like battery acid once I get it down to that area of my chest. Is this normal? About when can I see some relief with this?

yes.

if you lay down do not lie flat - prop the head of your bed up a couple of inches - even at night.

walk. walk. walk.

Oh yes. I was sleeved on the 17th and spent the first 3 days sleeping in an elevated position. It's really amazing how walking helps alleviate the gas and that little breathing contraption they have you use.

its easier to elevate the headboard than just your body esp if you sleep on your side. I hugged a pillow to lay back on the bed. I did recovery in a 25' RV because I was waiting for the completion of my modular home. getting up was awkward but laying back was more painful. Hubby would lay me back or I would lay to my side then roll to my back :D

Yep, had the same thing from the gas. They warned me at the hospital I'd feel it in my chest so I didn't panic. I couldn't get mine to go away until I started walking. The nurse at the hospital told me to lie on my left side... not sure why, but it helped.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
