Help carb over load.

OK. I'm about to be 7 months out from VSG. I have started to pick up some of my old habits. I'm loving the carbs. I'm wanting to get back on track. I get 64 oz of Water in also 6 turkey and cheese wraps in a day. I fell that I'm over eating. Also that I'm stretching my sleeve and felling this program. My doc did not send me home with any paperwork or support info. So I'm out here doing this by my self. I want my restriction to go back to 2 months out. Also I don't have a I'm full signal. I never had. Any info would be nice. No judging please. Thanks

First of all, your restriction will never be where it was a 2 months, so you can forget that.

You're doing great on the water! That's not an easy thing to do, so I commend you for that! Why just turkey and cheese wraps? Do you not cook? (I know a lot of people who don't). I think if you can get some variety of some nice, lean Protein and veggies, you won't have room for carbs.

So keep up the Water, Protein and veggies with every meal. Start weighing and measuring everything. Just because you CAN eat 6 turkey and cheese wraps, doesn't mean you should. And if you just eat protein first, then a little veggies, you will have no room for carbs, because protein is filling! snack on only a little fruit, cheese, nuts, Jerky. For now, since you're having a problem, just stay completely away from all bread, crackers, Pasta, rice, etc.... if you do that, your cravings should diminish for them.

Thanks so much I do cook. I eat sloppy Joe . I do chicken in the crock pot. Baked pork chops. I have not found a Protein Drink I like that fills me up. Also my exercise has been hindered BC of back issues. So I just wanting to get back on track and thanks for your info. I will be back to post on this thread to let you know how things are going.

At 7 months with no post-op guidance sounds scary. What have you been doing up to now?

I would recommend revisiting the basics. Getting 64 oz of Water is great. What is your Protein goal? Are you reaching it every day? Are you recording your food? Are you eating Protein first? Are you exercising even with a bad back? (I love Water exercise and swimming because it is low impact.)

If you seem lost, why not consider making an appointment with your NUT and following up with your surgeon's office?

Well my surgeon is a butt. When I walk in and try to talk to him he just looks at me and says it is trial and error. My Protein goals are 90. No I don't meet them BC if my down fall of carbs. No I don't record but I'm going to start. I do eat protein first. I got a fit bit so I get 2-3 miles in a day with my daily life task. I'm thinking about doing Water exercise. Also I don't have a nut any more she moved.

It's great that you're hitting your Water, as others have said. Do you track in an app like MFP? That is a huge help to me so that I know how many carb, fat, and Protein grams I'm getting. My doctor's recommendation is to keep it to 50 g or less of carbs a day, although I rarely go any more than 30, and usually it's more like 15-18. I think that could be a big help as your are working toward cutting back on carbs. As you work on cutting them out, you can give yourself mini goals along the way. The first couple days limit to 50, then the next few days keep it to 40, and keep going until you are where you want them to be.

Also, I recently tried turkey and cheese roll ups, and they did not fill me up either. I weighed out 2 oz of meat and 1 of cheese and it got rid of the hunger, but didn't give me the "full" signal(i was using lunch meat turkey). Maybe try some real grilled or baked chicken or cook up a lean hamburger patty. Those both get me to full. Good luck!

Do you like black Beans? They are one of my favorite foods right now. I make them like Cuban black Beans and will sometimes add a little browned Jimmy Dean sausage. I freeze 1/2 cup containers of the beans/sausage mixture to keep at work for lunch. Believe it or not, that 1/2 cup can be rather filling. I eat a variety of Protein packed foods in any given week. I don't like it to get boring, and I've found that since surgery I'm wanting more highly flavored foods, not necessarily spicy hot, which I love, just lots of flavor.

The more Protein you eat over a period of time, the less you'll crave carbs, or have room for them.

My NUT & surgeon's daily guidelines were at least 100 grams of protein, less than 50 grams carbs, and about 1000 cal. If you plan out your food well enough, it's amazing how much food you can get in 1000 cal.

No but I'm willing to try anything . I started back to my basic today. I fell weak and sick. But I'm going to keep it going

You look great!

Just focus on the basics -- Protein, Water, avoid starchy carbs, and exercise and you will do great. As you reduce your starchy carbs, you probably won't crave them as much.

As many have noted on these boards: this is a marathon, not a sprint.

Even though your previous NUT moved, why not see if you can find a new one?

I like the deli meat and cheese rollups but I add some light chive and onion cream cheese. I find that helps me feel full. Just that little bit of fat helps the Protein in making me not hungry.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
