I woke up with bad headache this morning. I figured it's because of either allergies or because of quick weather changes the pressure sometimes does it. I'm use to taking 3 Aleve at least to get headache to go away or dull the pain but that was before the sleeve surgery. I automatically took that this morning after wondering if I should change on how we take basic medicine with the change of our stomach? For the future when ever we are on medicine for any reason will that always be adjusted because of our smaller stomach or not? This was one area of subject I never really thought of before because I normally don't take anything but Vitamins. Thank you!

Don't take NSAIDs! It may cause damage to your sleeve. Best thing I found is Goodys liquid Headache Relief shot. It tastes yucky but is really amazing. My Migraine is gone almost instantly.

Check with your surgeon about NSAIAD's. Some permit them, some permit with restrictions as to how much and how often, some forbid them entirely. It's definitely something to discuss with the medical professionals involved in your care.

My surgeon told me yesterday no NSAIDs. He said maybe in a year or two but not right now. It can damage the stomach. He took away my Voltaren for my arthritis and it's killing me. The arthritis pain is way worse than the surgery pain. Knee shots on Monday!

Wow! That would be rough! My Migraine came back and I called my doctor. He said I can take it but not a daily thing just once in awhile won't hurt me so still trying to deal with not taking it and go to bed early tonight! Thank you all for responding!

@hockeyfan7 I KNOW just what you're talking about with the loss of voltaren ( I call it diclofenac ) ... I honestly cried a little when the doc said I couldn't take it anymore ... that medication is amazing on my arthritis pain ...

The doc said my pain doc could give me a low dose of Mobic and Pepcid to protect my new stomach ... I take it in the mornings .. I haven't' noticed a huge difference with it or without it ... but I go back to her next month ... maybe i'll have to get shots again ..

I'm bone on bone in both knees ... and I have lymphedema in both legs ... so knee surgeon said I had to lose weight before he would be able to do the replacements ... hence, the biggest reason for the WLS ...

Hang in there - things will get better! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
