I am trying to eat healthy so I can get this pre-surgery weight off I looked at the carbs in a apple and was amazed it was over 20 grams. Is there any fruit I can eat that won't overload me in carbs? I am trying to keep carbs around 40 grams a day.

fruit can be challenging no matter how good it is. I love fruit and have a hard time getting some in each day since the priority is Protein and fluids.

You can always eat half the apple and add a ounce of cheese to the snack.< /p>

Cantaloupe is a favorite and quite filling.

Good luck on your journey! I'm sure you will find a routine that works well for you. Everyone's journey is a bit different although there are many with a lot of similarities.

All fruits are full of fructose, so have a good amount of carbs. Berries have the least, if I remember correctly; and bananas, pineapples, and mangoes are some of the highest. I thought apples were on the lower end, too, but berries have less.

Yes, go for berries. Less sugar overall. And you're in the perfect time of year for them!

Ditto--berries and melons. Bananas are a killer! I still eat them once or twice a week but only half and only on days I run.

I think apples are one of those foods where it takes so much energy to chew and digest (especially in its natural, whole form) that the carbs are pretty much a wash. As long as you are getting in Protein I wouldn't worry about some nice, fresh fruit now and then. But ultimately, the best authority is your NUT.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
