So, I am in the process of meeting all of my insurance requirements, which turned out to be pretty relaxed considering what some have to go through. I have to enroll in the Bariatric Resource Center (done), get a Nutrition Consult (done), have a psych eval (scheduled for next Monday), get my medical testing and blood work (done, just waiting on follow up for clearance, on July 6th), get 2yr weight history (just a form for the Doctor to sign, July 6th), and that is it. So it looks like I'll be submitting the week of the 6th! I am starting to worry though. What if I graze? What if I can't keep up the diet? What if I go through all of this and don't lose any weight? food has been my best friend for a long time? What happens when I don't have that any more?

It can't be your friend anymore when u start losing weight u won't want that friend as much u will realize it's not a good friend if u have Hobbys involve yourself in that more take up a new challenge take classes clean closets walk your dog work out go to places locally u never visited volunteer keep busy if u can boredom tends to invite mindless eating and don't keep trigger foods in the house

What if the surgery goes perfectly, you lose all of the weight you want to, and you easily maintain below goal weight for the rest of your life? :) Every time you think of something bad, also think of a good "what if". It's totally normal to be worried and stressed and scared...all of us were. Just remember, almost every person on this board will tell you that the surgery was worth it, so statistically, there's a pretty good shot you will feel the same way in a few months.

Good luck to you!

I like what you ^^ said about thinking Positive along with Negative. I'm just about to start my journey so I am in your same boat with the same questions.

I've been realizing I am more worried about success and living a new healthy life. I'm scared I won't adjust well. I'm going to have to though!!! I need this. It's so much more than small clothes and vanity. I need to survive. :) you can do it! Be honest in your psych evaluation about how you feel and voice your concerns. From what I can tell: it's normal to feel this way!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
