Kick starting my metabolism

Recommended Posts

So let me start this by saying I know we should focus on alot of other things besides the scale...but easier said then done. For the past 3 weeks, my weight has not budged. It's the same when I wake up and when I go to sleep. I have been good with my food and drink choices and I also exercise...so here is my question...what is the best way to kick start my metabolism? Would too little calories per day cause this? Because to be honest I have a crazy finickey band...where some days I don't even feel like eating because it's too tight. Or I can only eat dinner...but I can never eat before noon...ever. Any insight or help would be appreciated.

I am with you fellow bander... Nothing before noon... dinner is enjoyable. lunch is just something band friendly just to have something

Maybe a different exercise / work out can kick start a loss? A different Zumba class or bike riding?

After so many years, I also stay about the same weight Rarely do I eat differently or not work out. So I guess it's an elusive answer

Let me know if something new comes on the board to change our status quo⭐️

Ps. I do increase my Water a lot and this seems to help flush off salt weight????

A prolonged period of less than 1200 calories can put your body into starvation mode. If you are unable to eat for Breakfast and lunch, try incorporating some Protein Shakes into your diet. They will also provide Protein necessary to build muscle and transform your body. I don't know what kind of exercise you're doing but, if it's cardio, instead of static state cardio (walking at the same speed for 30 mins for example) try high intensity interval cardio instead...walk a minute, jog or run a minute. HIIT cardio is scientifically proven to increase your metabolism for the 48 hours following your workout. Lastly, if you aren't incorporating weights into your routine, do it! That is where my body started to change. If you are unsure how to start, fitness blender is a great website, and it's free!

Thank you @julienorton & @horsegirl315....I believe the whole starvation mode thing may have been an issue...but good news! I have finally seen the scale start moving again. Not fast but moving. I do some lifting and cardiovascular and have recently incorporated "insanity" into my routine....which may possibly be the death of me! Started adding Protein mix to more drinks and drinking more water....which is tough for me...anyways thank you for your help!! *as of today 168! Wooooohooo!

Dang spell check on my phone..just cardio not cardiovascular...lol!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
