only lost 3 #'s, when will it go faster?

Recommended Posts

Alright. I'm not looking for miracles or anything, but I have only lost 3 pounds since surgery 5 days ago. I kind of wanted more weight to come off by now. I want to see the scale move so I can actually feel like a success. After ten pounds, I'll feel like a success and then not be concerned.

When does the start of substantial weight loss start?

Five days is still very new. You could be retaining Water (fluids)....you just had surgery. Everyone's body heals differently. Just stick to the post op plan and you will do just great. Stay away from the scale for a week. You will be surprised.

I actually weighed more at Day 5 than I did when I went in the hospital - supposedly due to swelling and fluids used in hospital. It will start coming off as long as you are following the plan. Promise! :)

I was the same weight after I left the hospital (I was in one week) as I was when I came into the hospital. It's all the IV fluids. My legs and feet were so swollen I could barely walk, or fit into my shoes.

That will go away with walking, better rest, which you're sure to get at home, and before you know it, the weight will start coming off! Don't get too discouraged, it took me to week 2 post-op to lose my first 10 lbs.

I lost twenty pounds by my two check up... It will come and stay falling off! My surgery was may 27 and I'm at 35 pounds now... Stay with it!

It will happen. I remember getting home and getting on the scale only to be disappointed. I weighed more after surgery than when I went in. By two weeks post op I was down 18 lbs. it happens really fast. Im just under 2.5 months postop and I have lost 71 lbs from my heaviest weight.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
