Iluvharleys 15 Posted November 1, 2004 I e-mailed the dietician about what the other doctor told me, and she called me today with changes. I was extremely happy! She said I could eat 1/4 to 1/2 cup at a time, but should try to go for the Protein things like yogurt, cottage cheese, Beans etc. I need to get 3 cups in daily. No drinking for 30 minutes before (?) or 30 minutes after. Next week I should start soft protein like chicken, tuna, and fish. On the 15th of November she will call me and I can start solids! Now, this is the way I thought it should be! So, now I am a "Happy Camper"!
New Hope 37 Posted November 1, 2004 Persistence pays! You'll be eating in time for Galveston and Thanksgiving! Yeah!!!
live2canoe 1 Posted November 1, 2004 That's great!! Cottage cheese and apple sauce will never have tasted so good. Did she give you any explanation for why the doc gave you such bizarre instructions/restrictions during your appointment with him? It almost sounds like he thought you were a GB patient - or that he treats lap-band and GB the same post-op. I would hope that she will set him straight. blossom 2 Posted November 1, 2004 Woo Hoo!!! food at last, LOL! Good for you, Betty! I'm glad you followed through and got the proper instructions. Sounds like your doc, his assistant and the nutritionist need to communicate!
Iluvharleys 15 Posted November 1, 2004 Paula - I posted it on the other thread, but here goes: I have lost 35 pounds all together: 20 pre-op but gained 6 back from liquids in hospital, left me with 14 pound loss. Then I lost 21 so far post-op so, altogether 35 pounds. Now, if I just don't gain it back now that I can eat real food! lol Thanks for the compliment Paula! Iluvharleys 15 Posted November 1, 2004 Kim - She said some people like to eat the smaller portions, but if I didn't then I could do the 1/2 cup. She didn't say why he wasn't strarting me sooner on the foods, but she explained it all to me the right way, so I wasn't going to complain.
