I've never heard of an online sleep study. When I had my sleep study several years ago it consisted of an overnight at the sleep study center.

Lots of insurances are only approving home studies. If I wait for my insurance I would go pick up test then drop it off. I order online I mail it back.

I had to do a sleep study and had the choice between going to a facility or an in home study. I chose the in home study and did it just last Wednesday night. I don't think I had an option to choose the provider, my doctor told me who to use and had the provider contact me directly (and they were also covered by my insurance).

The technician came to my house and hooked me all up and everything was transferred/monitored online. The next morning when I woke I just removed all the sensors, etc and the technician came back by the house and picked them up.

Not sure if this is the same as the online study you are talking about??

No I order a machine it is mailed to me and then I mail it back the next day. I just don't know if the results will be good enough for the bariatric surgeon. I don't know if I should wait for my insurance or save money and get it on my own.

@@lisa0617 I would ask your surgeons office. They will probably have a list of approved providers. Would hate for you to go through all the trouble and then not be able to use the results.

If possible to use your insurance I would. Mine paid 80% so my portion was only a little over $100.00. I have United Healthcare and had no issue with them covering it and didn't need pre-approval or anything. The sleep study has actually been the easiest part of the process for me.

I will have to pay the whole cost and if I go through insurance my portion will be between 500 to 2900. I can't afford this on top of my portion for the surgery.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
