Be careful with Boost because it has too much sugar/carbs. I am really curious about what your post-op instructions say. Can you pull out your instructions and post them here? My program provided a whole notebook of info that has several pages related to the post-op diet as well as supplemental handouts with more detail from my required classes. I still have a hard time believing you were told just to drink milk with no other guidance.

What is your Protein goal?

I went to the store and bought Premier Protein and PB2 and made a shake and focused on Protein today and I feel better. I did cheat with guacamole but I pretended it was pudding :)

Where did you get your surgery done? That paper is just like mine, maybe we got it done through the same Dr, and I can help out a bit.

Please go to your bariatric/surgical team if you are not crystal clear on what your eating program is. You should have NO question about the food stages that are required of a bariatric patient. As you know, WLS is all about the CHOICES we make and our own personal responsibility. If you don't understand instructions or feel you are not getting the attention you need from your bariatric team, make noise until you do. Your health and WLS long-term success depends on it!

There are sp many choices for good, nutritious foods that you need to be eating right now. These first few months after your surgery are so critical for your healing AND energy AND for your best results with your weight loss. You do not want to end up in the hospital with a serious nutrition deficiency or dehydration.

Maybe you want to keep an eye on your sugar intake too. Milk has a lot of sugar. Many people mix the Protein powder with 1/2 Water, 1/2 milk or all Water (or almond milk).

Hope you are able to get your eating plan straightened out soon.

you should not be drinking milk all day long but should be drinking Protein Shakes for the protein....milk has a lot of sugar in it too which can hinder weight loss efforts among other things

Please stop cheating, especially stop cheating and laughing about it. While we all have lapses, having cheats this early on in your journey will make it so much harder later on. This is the honeymoon phase for you, when you can maximize your weight loss. It will slow down heavily later, if you fail during this stage you risk failure over all.

You can do this!

Protein is ESSENTIAL. Get some Protein drinks (I drink premiere Protein from Sam's club) 30gms a drink. Your body will not digest the food properly if you don't get enough protein. Protein help heal your body. Pasteurized milk does not contain enough protein. If you are drinking raw milk that is different. If you don't get enough protein on a daily basis you could end up losing some hair in months 6 or 9. they say it will grow back but i don't want to take a chance. I have a Protein Drink in the morning with my meds and one at night. I'm 9 weeks out. have stalled for 2 of those weeks and have still lost 43 lbs pre surgery. Best of luck on your journey

I don't consider it cheating it's the same consistency as pudding. I'll laugh if I like if you don't like it don't read it

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
