tacha22001 38 Posted June 22, 2015 Day 12 of the liquid pre surgery diet for me. Day 1 and some of 2 were the worst for me, as well, Now I'm Doing well. I went to the movies over the weekend the smell of popcorn bout killed me I so wanted to munch on some. But I was strong I am so proud of myself. Usually at the movies we get the large popcorn and drink plus milk duds and other yummy Snacks. I went with my daughter and Husband and supporting me(and because I threatened them not to J/K!) they didn't get any either. I sat thru the whole show and sipped on Water go me!!! After Surgery and recovery my daughter can get a small popcorn and drink and I can have a few pieces of hers. She said she would share. What a sweet girl! Surgery is Thursday the 25th. getting excited. Not Scared Just Ready.

wascott 395 Posted June 23, 2015 @@tacha22001 You're almost there! Pretty soon you won't be bothered by yummy popcorn. I'm looking forward to the day when j can get backkon real food. Today my "real" food was broth. I spent an hour working on 1 bowl and still left a little. Good luck with your surgery.

wascott 395 Posted June 23, 2015 @@RNsleever715 The surgery went smoothly. The surgery only took 30-40 minutes. I was up and walking shortly after I returned to my room. I had some gas pains yesterday. Today I still have discomfort from the gas but not as bad. I'm able to drink Water slowly without any issues. Had a bowl of beef broth Breakfast. I'll have no problems getting my minimum fluids in. In a nutshell, I'm doing better than I thought I would be. I'm sure I'll feel better with each passing day. The staff at the OCC is great. A very pleasant experience.

wascott 395 Posted June 23, 2015 @@RNsleever715 Once you arrive you will sign some paperwork and do your pre-op testing (EKG). You will then be taken to your room where you will change into a hospital gown. The nurse will setup your IV and give you something to relax you as you wait for your turn. Once you are taken to the operating room they will give you a drug that will make you feel really good. The next think you know is waking up in recovery. Then back to your room. Once the anesthesia wears off you will get up and walk around a bit. They will bring you ice and Water so you can start learning to sip. (Go slow) The IV will remain until the following morning. You will receive fluids, pain drugs, antibiotics, and anti-nausea drugs in the IV. The next morning they will remove the IV. You'll get dressed then receive some medications to take home. Then you are taken back to the Marriott. There were 5 surgeries yesterday. Met some nice people. You'll do great.
BarrySue 602 Posted June 23, 2015 48 hours into the low carb pre-op diet, and my head is already pounding! I always get headaches for the first week when I cut carbs.
mtraverse 327 Posted June 23, 2015 Omg I thought I was gonna die too or kill someone when I did the two week Pre-op diet. I hated all days of it but you do get into the swing of it! Hang in there we have all done it and lived to talk about it! Plus the goal off surgery follows close behind and makes it a little more bearable!

I am so dreading that! Hoping what they give me won't make me puke up my toenails. Sounds like you've had a great experience so far. Hope you continue to do well!
