fluids make me feel sick

Recommended Posts

i was treated for dehydration a couple days ago

I had been feeling really ill and dizzy for some time - so I went to the er and got 2 bags of Fluid

now i'm experiencing a new problem

anytime I drink anything I feel sick - my stomach does not like fluids

I just tried a sugar free popsicle and it made me feel sick for a bit

it's really hindering my ability to take in fluid

has anyone experienced this or does anyone have suggestions.......

I don't know how to edit the above post

but I've tried a variety of liquids at a variety of temperatures

the only liquids I get down are thick in the form of sugar free coolwhip

I just tried some food and I don't feel good after it either - it's nothing I haven't ate before after surgery

ugh my stomach hates me lately

Since surgery I hate the taste of chocolate. Tomatoes, strawberries, watermelon, avocados, and mushrooms make me throw up since surgery. Water, I can drink tea or coffee or a flavored water like Hint but not plain old water.

I am having the same troubles with plain old Water. No matter what the temp. I switched to homemade ice tea with sweetener and that seems to be doing better but it is still in the first 24 hours phase. I am almost two months out RnY

@@crazyfroglady some liquids do this to me too, but I know I have to have them so I take anti nausea, either non-drowsy dramamine or ginger pills help.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
