I can finally say I can fly without an extension for my seatbelt. Plus I have 6 inches of excess strap. This is a big thing for me because I fly a lot.

Woohoooo thats wonderful!! I have had to ask for an extension at times and I always found it humiliating so you must feel fantastic.

Well done :D

Well I typically would bring my own, but southwest has its own unique extension so when I would fly them I would have to ask.

WOW! those seat belt extensions! I traveled for 25 years and took my own most of the time, but had some fun with them over the years. On a flight to Seattle, the guy next to me said "Well you are big but there was a guy next to me last flight that was so fat he needed a seat belt extension". Me, of course just rang the call button an asked the flight attendant for a seat belt extension! I use them as way to practice self love -- when I needed one I would push the call button and when the flight attendant looked my way I would just put my hands up and make the seat belt connection motion.... instead of hiding the fact that I needed one. BUT, it will be great to not have to use one....and that time is soon. Great work!

I know right! I always felt humiliated when I would have to ask. I traveled for work and was usually sitting with a co-worker. Ugh!

Every time I fly I secretly smile when I clip that belt and have another 10 inches or so left!

Way to go! There will be many more cool things that happen.

Saturday I had to go to the er for something unrelated and since losing all this weight my tailbone hurts so bad that if I sit on something without a lot of padding, it is very painful. Well I was in there for several hours on one of their gurneys and finally sat on the bed like a child "Indian Stlye". I was sitting like that for about 30 minutes and my husband looked at me and said look how you are sitting. I smiled like a Cheshire Cat and said, yes I know I have not been able to sit like this for 30 years!

But my tailbone felt better! I was proud of me!

Good luck on your journey!

Must be an awesome feeling!!! My aha moment that lead me to pursuing weightloss surgery was boarding a plane this past May and not being able to fasten my seatbelt. I fly about once a month for work and had never had to ask for an extender. I thought about trying to hide my unfastened seatbelt under my shirt but finally broke down and asked for the extender. I cried the entire 4 hour flight home and made a promise to myself that I would turn my life around! Can't wait until I have extra room in the belt!!!

@@BrownEyedTxGirl that was the straw that broke my camel's back too! It was awful for me having to ask for a seat belt extender last time I flew. I will be flying early September and hoping i will have lost enough weight to no longer need one. Wish me luck!

@@zonetracy My next flight will be September 30th. I haven't had my surgery yet but looks like it will be the first or second week in August. Hoping I loose enough weight by then!

Can't wait to hear how much slack you have in that belt come September :)

Woohoo!! Congrats! This is one of the biggest NSV's I am looking forward to! That and being able to put the airplane seats all the way down without bruising my darn thighs and hips!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
