Tomorrow is my surgery day!

Recommended Posts

This past week has been relatively tough, between the liquid diet and nerves. Today I finally feel settled, calm, and totally ready for tomorrow's surgery. I've put so much time and energy into research, weighing the pros and cons, and coming to terms with the lifelong changes that this surgery and new lease on life will entail... It seems like I should be wracked with nerves right now, like it's the calm before the storm-- yet all I can do is smile while I pack my hospital bag! I'm just so relieved I came to this decision now rather than waiting ten or twenty years and missing out on so much life experience because of my weight. I'm a little nervous when thinking about the post-surgical pain.... In three short days I'll be back at home and on my way to becoming a stronger, healthier person!!!! See you all on the other side.... xoxo!

We're getting sleeved on the same day..... we'll need to keep in touch.

I'm the exact opposite. The Pre-op has been a breeze for me, I've been calm and just doing exactly what I've been told to do. Then this morning, I woke up and couldn't stop crying for the longest time and feeling very anxious, for the first time! I've tried to derail the emotions by cleaning my house, doing laundry, washing sheets, doing dishes, etc so that when I get home on Tuesday I can just concentrate on healing!

Best of luck to both of us! Talk to you soon

Natalie

I had a couple meltdowns and freak-outs during my pre-op period, but the day before surgery and the morning of, I was much less nervous than I thought I would be, even as I was sitting in the pre-op prep area waiting (and they hadn't even given me any happy drugs yet!). The couple hours immediately post-op were the worst, I'll admit... but once you are able to get up and moving (and peeing), it gets much better. And remember, you don't need to be a hero--take the pain meds and anti-nausea meds if you need them!

Good luck, you'll do great!

Let's definitely keep in touch through this journey. I will be thinking about you tomorrow! I've been deep cleaning my house today as well, keeping busy.... What a roller coaster of emotions, right?!? Good luck and we'll talk soon!

Well, Nell.... how did it go? I just got home from the hospital.... overall, it went well.

When I woke up after surgery my tummy felt like a 60 pound child was sitting on it. But once I got on Pain Meds, that cleared right up. I feel like my tummy just overdid it at the gym. I had trouble tinkling, they wouldn't release me until I could show I could tinkle....After many tries, I finally turned on the shower and voila, it came out and they let me go.

Now, all I want to do is sleep. And sleep.< /p>

natnat, I'm starting to freak out...my surgery is booked July 3.

I'm terrified of vomiting.

Did you vomit?

Can they give you something before the surgery for that?

How about anxiety meds?

They will give you anti-nausea meds in the hospital as needed. I only threw up once, and it was after I came home--I will admit that it hurt like hell, but it won't damage anything. The only reason I vomited was because my antidepressant and my sleeve aren't getting along (I'm cutting my pills in half now and taking them a few hours apart).

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
