Do you still get these feelings?

Recommended Posts

Ok I got my band out last Thursday, am back on regular food and notice a few things:

1. When I get to a certain point of eating my nose starts to run?? (This used to happen with band when I had had enough)

2. My stomach feels tight in the morning..does yours?

3. I get the full feeling, the nose run and once a burp that was like a pb.

Is this normal?? I have not over eatten and have really tried to have lettece when I do eat reall food. I have also stuck to one or two liquid meals.

Is this normal?? I still feel restriction. Does this happenn to anyone else?? Did anyone else have gastritis after removal???

Just a few questions!

Thanks,:phanvan

So do I! I came over here to see if anyone else is experiencing this! I'm three weeks out today from my band removal due to erosion! How long have you been out?

I've heard a few people say they still have restriction for a while after their band is removed. Go with it, I guess!

Well i had to have my band removed because it slipped. No one even discussed revision. Horrible reflux, etc. Now I will be at 3 weeks out this thursday. I too have gone to fitday.com and write everything down to track my calories. i am sticking to less than 900 calories a day. Weird thing is - well not weird, my Dr left my port in so if I get rebanded I only have to worry about the band and not the additional pain that goes with the port- so I still get port pain- WEIRd huh?? I cant explain it! I really am trying to stick to shakes 3 times a day and one regular meal and yes I do feel I still have restriction. So your band eroded? That must have been tough too. How have you been since?? I miss parts of being banded, but I do not miss the reflux, the vomitting and the slimming! That was not the best. I have learned to be more concious about everything I put in my mouth. I lost 62lbs with the band and refuse to put weight back on! Tell me how you have weathered???;)

For maybe two weeks after band removal I still felt some residual effects, but not really "restriction." But that faded quickly and I was back to 100% normal (PREband normal) in short order. I think it just has something to do with our own internal healing processes, and will differ for everyone.

Are you taking any meds for reflux or severe heartburn after you eat? I am still taking prevacid and am wondering when that will go away!

I had been taking Prevacid for weeks before my band was removed. I stopped the day of surgery and haven't had any heartburn or reflux since.

If you just got banded in May you do not need it out. Even now with my band out I still have port pain as they left my port in and it has nothing to do with the band. I would do anything for my band back. I fight every day to maintain my weight and I am no way happy weighing 244lbs. I my husband does not want me to be banded again and I knw I need help! Take care of your band, help yourself and take advantage to get awesome weight loss!Port pain is no big deal-good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
