Police investigating deaths as homicide

FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. - WWE wrestler Chris Benoit, his wife and son were found dead Monday and police said they were investigating the deaths as a homicide.

Lt. Tommy Pope of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department said the three were found at their home about 2:30 p.m., but refused to release details.

Pope said results of autopsies on Benoit, his wife Nancy, and 7-year-old son Daniel were expected Tuesday.

Pro wrestler Chris Benoit, his wife and 7-year-old son were found slain Monday at their Fayette County home, authorities said.

Benoit, 40, was a former world heavyweight champion, Intercontinental champion and held several tag-team titles over his career.

“WWE extends its sincerest thoughts and prayers to the Benoit family’s relatives and loved ones in this time of tragedy,” the federation said in a statement on its Web site.

Benoit was scheduled to perform at the “Vengeance” pay-per-view event Sunday night in Houston, but was replaced at the last minute because of what announcer Jim Ross called “personal reasons.”

Benoit, a Canadian native, maintained a home in metro Atlanta from the time he wrestled for the defunct World Championship Wrestling.

The WWE canceled its live “Monday Night RAW” card in Corpus Christi, Texas, and USA Network aired a three-hour tribute to Benoit in place of the scheduled wrestling telecast.

The WWE is going to regret jumping in and having a three hour Beniot-a-thon with gushing from fellow wrestlers if it turns out he murdered his wife and child before killing himself. Frankly a double murderer doesn't deserve the accolades that Eddie Guerrero or Owen Hart got after their deaths. They probably should have waited before cashing in with the ratings that I'm sure they get for a tribute show.

Then again with storylines about the company owner being killed in a mock terrorist attack what won't they do for ratings?

I just read on MSNBC that officials believe Benoit killed his wife and son sometime over the weekend and then killed himself Monday. I have not read how he killed them but the article said all three bodies were in different rooms. Friends became worried after they received some disturbing text messages from Benoit and sent police to the home.

First, who?

Second, how ill must someone have been to kill themself, their wife and their child? Sad, too bad he couldn't have gotten help.

If this turns out not to be the case and it was set-up to look that way (gotta cover all the bases), then how sick must anyone be to kill a defenseless person?

Our news this morning said he killed the family and then himself. It's so sad that when someone wants to take their life they have to take others with them.

Very, very sad! I agree with Betty, why take others with you, but then again, if he hadn't been "SICK", he wouldn't have killed himself either. It's hard to believe people can get that sad or mad to kill anyone, much less a child. Their poor family members must be going through hell.

I just listened to the press conference on Fox News. They did find steroids--prescribed, but not sure if that was the motive, though there is speculation about "roid rage." No suicide note was found.

He also had a history of domestic violence.

The wife was bound and strangled on Friday, the son suffocated while in his bed on Saturday, and then he hanged himself Sunday.

I am not an expert by no means...In 2002--I was getting my complete Physical done. I complained about me being tired all the time and not excited about sex anymore. My Doctor tested my blood for the Nanoliters of "Testosterone". They discovered I had a level of 160. An average Man should be right at 700 to 1,000 at age 45. So I started injected every 3 weeks and then in 2005--went to 250 mgs every 2 weeks. I can tell you from my experience--"Roid Rage" is true and it can be strong. I am glad I wasn't a fool to inject more than the required dosage. I now have like 75 syringes in my home--but they are kept in a high place--out of my kids reach. I have to have them--to give myself the injections. I am not a fool--so I will not go over the required dosage.

One of the better things that it's given me---a better test result on the Prostate test(PSA). I was at a dangerous level with bad cells- 3.9(PSA)--when that test shows a 4.0--they want to test you and look at cells up close. Now--think God I am averaging a .07 to .05 each test. A safe area.

OK...I no longer have that so called roid rage. I can get agressive--but I have to control myself and I do My use is not illegal--it's for the low levels...

Lee4love1, I have been following this case and have a question for you. I was under the impression that roid rage was a short term thing, an hour or so at most. Does the rage last 2 or 3 days at a time? Seems like Benoit planned this out very well. The wife was bound and stangled, with a bible near her head, and there were signs that she fought back. The son was also strangled, in his bed, they are guessing he was strangled with a choke hold as there were no marks on him. (did benoit tell him they were playing and then just not let go? the son had mental and physcial disablites, he had fragile x syndrome and was also dwarfed) Then Benoit was found hung from a weight bench. Both the wife and son had bibles with their bodies. That also seems strange for roid rage. What is your opinion, do you think it was a case of rage or a case of homicidal maniac? ~Mandy

I think you may right about the Roid rage lasting a few hours. I see that this wrestler guy had his murder suicice all planned out.Let's hope that when his was reported prior to the Police lovating him is a hoax. If not--we're then talking "Homocide.

I recall doing some very strange things when I had that rage. I recall having a sexual relationship with a Woman I wouldn't even have dreamed of. So maybe it effects the brain more than we really know. It makes us more agressive too. Then again--I was always agressive until I made 35--seems I lost a bit of steam.

My brother told me a Joke on my birthday-(6-21). "Hey Big Brother--you used to shoot 44 magnums and now all you can shoot is 22 rounds---get it...He's 45 thinking 50 is stretch...

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Seems it would be more compassionate not to perform a WLS on someone until they are mentally ready for it. Unless of course they are on death's door...

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
