pudding, lots of pudding. To the extent that I won't eat pudding again for a very long time. Greek yogurt, homemade cream Soups because the store ones just put too much junk in it. Protein Shakes too, as some one put it, until they were coming out of my ears. I've seen some recipes for some hot and sour Soup, but I never made it. Looking back on it, it would have been delicious. You can Google a ton of good recipes out there, but if you're not one to make things for yourself, your options are pretty limited without exceeding fat/carb limits that should be put on your diet during this time. Just remember these are just temporary times and soon you'll be in pureed, then softs. As time goes by you'll get that Water in without an issue. Welcome to the forum and good luck on your weight loss journey!

I had my surgery on June 17. I'm on full liquids as well and really haven't eaten that much to be honest. I'm trying to stay hydrated and take a bite or two of yogurt, cream of wheat Cereal and sip or two of premier Protein when possible. I'm just not super hungry and think I'm a bit swollen still.

What I did notice is that my surgeon's office provided a different post-op 6 week diet guideline than the one the nutritionist in the hospital provided. The discrepancy concerns me so I'm going to stay with the most restrictive diet until I can discuss it with the surgeon's office next Friday.

Quick and easy is the name of the game for me. I use a 24 oz water bottle and add 2 ind serve packets of Crystal Lite and 1.5 scoops of natual whey Protein. Fill with ice and Water and shake. counts as 3C water and 30g protein and 145 calories. I just love these! Refreshing here in Arizona where it is 115 degrees out!

Ugh broths broths broths. Protein Shakes and lots of Water. I got tired of broth and didn't want to buy canned Soups since it is full of junk. I went to my favorite site once upon a chef and modified her classic Tomato Soup by cutting a few things in half, adding water etc and it was delicious! ! I should buy protien powder and add it to my Soup to see how it tastes

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
