Hey all! I'm having a bit of an issue that is scaring me to death.

Sleeved on June 8th with an umbilical hernia repair. All went absolutely fine and was home on the 10th. Following my drs/NUT's orders, ok maybe not drinking as much Water as I should, but generally doing everything told.

I had a few pains here and there but nothing major at all. Didn't even take pain meds at home. The only major problem was Constipation (driving me nuts!!!!)

But lately, I've had a small kinda burning pain on my right side, close to my belly button. It's not permanent; it comes and goes. It is there when I get up from sitting/lying down and for about a minute afterwards. It's also there when I am in bed and roll over or when I am sitting in a certain position and move around to get comfy. There is very slight swelling but no redness and I haven't had a fever. Nor have I had any problem eating.

I am petrified of having complications. Can anyone tell me if they felt like this too?

Thanks so much in advance!

What you are experiencing is normal healing, it will go away on it's own. I had similar issues

Thank you for posting, I too was sleeved on June 8th and have had little to no pain in my belly button and upper incision. The only place that was painful was my left side incison. However today, I have this one spot on my belly button incision that is burning and stabbing pain. The only relief I get is if I lay down flat on my back. I also am scared, it sounds normal according to some of the posts, but it really hurts. Yesterday two things happened that lead me to suspect I may hurt it in some way. 1. I wore jeans for the first time and it rubbed my incision tape off. 2. I accidentally was straining with a bowel movement, really couldn't help it once it started.

Lie down and rest and put ice on the area. That is what my home health nurse had me do, it works wonders!

I had same pains i was told its normal.it is getting a lots better. It is where the de cuts through muscles and tendons inside besides where they put the gas inside to make it easier to operate on us .plus they take that old stomach out of same place.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
