In week 4 I ate Peanut Butter from a spoon and felt sooo sick! I thought maybe it was too soon. Well, last night I ate some apple slices dipped in peanut butter and oh boy!! I suddenly felt like I had the worst flu ever....for two hours I thought I might die! Anyone else have no-no foods??

Have you tried PB2? A lot of fat taken out. It would have to be mixed with something to dip apples in but I have been using it in my chocolate Protein shakes and it is WONDERFUL!

Oh, that would make me so sad! I love having a spoonful of Peanut Butter a few times a week. The only thing that makes me feel really sick is greasy food (like onion rings) which is good cause I don't need it anyway and it keeps me from wanting to eat it.

Wheat is NOT my friend. I am OK with that though because I am not a bread fan and I have found a quinoa Pasta or I sub zucchini or squash for noodles, White potatoes make me sick but sweet potatoes do not. Also, sugar makes me feel horrible. Between the white giving e Constipation and sugar giving me diarrhea I am allergic to most artificial sweetners-nutrasweet especially so I have created some rhymes:

1-If it is white it is not all right

2-If it is sweet retreat

3-Keep your new stomach pristine and eat clean

Some thoughts about Peanut Butter ...

How many of you have measured out an even tablespoon of Peanut Butter?

Having done that recently, I was surprised to see that a tablespoon of peanut butter is about half the amount my brain thought a tablespoon of PB would be.

And since one tablespoon of peanut butter is very high (95 calories - yikes!) for only 4 grams of Protein, I've decided that two tablespoons of peanut butter (what it takes to thinly cover a piece of bread or a Wasa multigrain cracker) is simply not worth 190 calories it "costs" me.

I am actually doing great. Fortunately I never really had a sweet tooth and I have learned to substitute dried quinoa for bread crumbs in recipes so it's not so bad!

@ lucky1gg33 Are you sure it wasnt the apples or maybe the sugar content of the PB was too much!!! I had a spoonfull of Pb low sugar skippy and it was a mouth orgasm!! I loved it yummy????

I avoided it during the loss phase as well for these reasons, but it helps me keep the calories up for maintenance!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
