Butt hurts when sitting

Recommended Posts

Anyone else have problems with your butt hurting when sitting after losing weight? I went from 427 to 265 since November of last year. I had complications from my surgery and cannot exercise very much or walk very far. I have tried to do squats every day to build up the muscles but that does not seem to be helping. Thank you.

Well first, congrats on your lost! That is amazing! I am just starting so I don't have that issue but I remember reading someone else on here recently that mentioned it. Something about the difference in not having the same cushion back there. Don't know what to do about it or if it goes away but just thought I would say I don't think you are alone!

The butt hurting thing is very common. There have been many threads on here about it.

It is extraordinary painful and so far I have not gotten used to it. I am 8 months post op.

Yep. I have a little fat left in my hips I want to have sucked out and injected in my butt!

Thanks you everyone. I am glad I am not the only one with this problem. I have a pillow I sit on when I drive and another one on my chair. I have to turn and kind of sit on my hip. Hopefully it gets better.

Yup, happened to me as well, I'm down to 228lbs right now. I'm doing butt workouts at the gym and they've helped, hoping to tone it soon as well.

I am on day 8 of preop diet. I have been having that same problem. I am down about 15 pounds. I wondered what was going on. I guess I am feeling this early maybe because I have a flatter butt? Thanks for the idea about a pillow.

I also use a pillow. My tailbone has no cushion anymore, it can hurt to sit, and I've been banded 2 1/2 years. I don't know that it ever will go away. I'll deal with it...it's a whole lot better than having a fat a**.

I am also using a pillow. It helps some but does not take all the pain away. I end up sitting on my hip more than my butt.

Weight loss compounded with the fact that I broke my tailbone last year, sitting is pretty uncomfortable at times:(

I also find sitting for any length of time gets uncomfortable . Even hair appts w/ cut and color last too long. OUCH. Guess it is better than having all that stuffing there.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
