msIva8 1 Posted June 19, 2015 Help! I was sleeved on the 26th of May. I was told that if I didn't have a bowel movement three or four days after to take a laxative. During my post op visit my doc told me that he wanted me to have a bowel movement every other day?!?!? Problem is that twice I've had a problem with Constipation, and I mean two major blockages. I was told by the nurse at my surgeons office to take Miralax. Has anyone's else us this problem. I'm starting to regret this sleeve. My friend who has the Lap Band does have this problem. Help! Justoperated 141 Posted June 19, 2015 This is the only problem I have 6 months post-op and its mostly because I don't take appropriate measures, when I do, there is no problem. Take laxatives regularly, most work with me, you have to see what works best for you. The more you leave it, the worse it will get.
Miss Mac 6,262 Posted June 19, 2015 I take stool softeners every day, and put Miralax in one of my beverages every day. I have prune juice for emergencies, but I have only had one "pushing a watermelon through a straw" event. I also have Smooth Move Tea on hand, but don't like its licorice aftertaste. _Kate_ 2,224 Posted June 19, 2015 Smooth Move tea is very good. I need to drink it at night and it works first thing in the morning ( I have always suffered with bouts of constipation) Kate

lucky1gg33 107 Posted June 20, 2015 Tried Smooth Move Tea the other evening. The next morning the first 45 minutes after waking were horrible. I had lower back and tummy cramps and felt weak like I had the flu. I did have a movement within 45 min and another one before noon but felt sick and weak half the day. It worked but now scared to try again. Still battling Constipation.

wannaBthinsoon 1,634 Posted June 21, 2015 The Constipation has been my only issue since my surgery in April. Now I take stool softeners every day, without fail. I have exlax for emergencies, but haven't had to use it since I began the stool softeners. I am hoping that being able to eat veggies will help me with becoming a little more "regular". Good luck. likelike 63 Posted June 21, 2015 So the hospital that I went to for my surgery urged us not to use MOM simply because MOM take Water from the body to help loosen the stool. Since post surgery Water is extremely important they suggest Miralax. But when I was constipated for the fist time in... EVER I grabbed that MOM and shot glassed it as fast as possible. The after effects did show signs of dehydration so it took me a while to recover. Since then I've been drinking Miralax with my water religiously. Hope that helps.
