Exercise two week post op is everyone getting?

Recommended Posts

Hello, I am a little over two weeks post op, and I was wondering how much exercise are you all getting in?

I was told to try to get in 60 minutes of "brisk walking" per day, but not all at once. Like a few 10-20 minute walks each day. I honestly didn't get in that much in the very early days/weeks, but I tried to work my way up to it as soon as possible.

I'm 10 days out and was just told to start 30 minutes per day cardio. I wear a fitbit and have walked up to 3800 steps a day so far. So I'll start walking more tomorrow and doing slight lifts to build up. Energy level hopefully will improve as I walk but 400 calories a day doesn't give you much energy.

Thanks everyone! @@LynRey70, I have just been trying to get a little bit in daily, nothing too strenuous on my body. I am still at the point where I have to take a nap at least once. I was just trying to see at this point how much is adequate. Thanks LynRey70

I am just over 3 weeks out and started working out doing 30 minutes cardio 5 days a week! Which is what my NUT recommended. I feel good doing that and am starting to feel like more is just around the corner!

I must have the most lax insurance ever. I was able to schedule my surgery within 8 weeks of my consultation. I didn't have to lose any weight first, or provide a whole lot of history.

I'm hoping that's how my experience goes with my insurance. My insurance no longer requires a weight loss regimen for a required duration of time i.e. 6 months

I'm 3 weeks post and I've been afraid to exercise much. Will jogging shake something loose? How much exercise is okay? What isn't okay?

You should have received instructions from your surgeon and if you didn't, you should call the office. I wasn't allowed anything more intense than "brisk walking" until 6 weeks post-op.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
